Kaka in flight



This is a kaka.

(heh heh ... heh heh... he said kaka)

They are tagged, but live in the wild so they come and go as they please, just like the eels (I will have to post images of them, too). They like to show up around 3 PM, though, because the nature center provided them with food. An easy meal.

I kept trying to catch a kaka in flight, but they are much quicker than you'd think.

What a colorful bird! Amazing flight pictures!! Size wise, what would it compare to that I would know?

The south island parrots are more colorful (like the traditional parrot you see in pet stores) but I only got one pic on the iPhone of those - from a distance.

They are both about the size of a macaw. Fairly large, but not huge
